Taylorsville, NC (September 4, 2025) – A tragic accident on Thursday morning, September 4, claimed the life of Rose Cotriech, 55, from Taylorsville. The collision occurred on NC 16 near the Alexander-Wilkes County line. Cotriech was driving a 2016 Acura MDX when it collided with a 2013 Dodge Dart, which was also heading north. The impact caused the Acura to veer off the road, down an embankment, and crash into a tree.
Hayden Monroe Bolick, 29, the driver of the Dodge Dart, was uninjured in the crash. The NC State Highway Patrol closed NC 16 for about five hours to investigate the scene. At this point, authorities have not determined if impairment played a role in the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and the Wilkes County District Attorney’s Office is being consulted.
