Charlotte, NC (July 10, 2025) – A deadly crash early Wednesday morning, July 9, on I-85 near the Mecklenburg-Gaston County line left one person dead and four others injured.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-85 near Exit 30, where the highway meets I-485. When first responders arrived, they found a silver SUV and a four-door sedan with significant damage on the roadside.
Paramedics from Mecklenburg County transported two victims to a nearby hospital, while Gaston County medics took two more. All four sustained what officials described as minor injuries. The identity of the person who died has not yet been released.
The crash site is near the western edge of Mecklenburg County, just a couple of miles from the Gaston County line. While traffic was impacted in the immediate aftermath, emergency crews have since reopened all lanes.
