Car Accidents in Charlotte and the Growing Toll of Highway CollisionsHuntersville, NC - Crash on Old Statesville Rd Ends in Injuries

Interstate crashes like the recent fatal collision on I-85 near Charlotte highlight the serious risks drivers face on North Carolina’s busiest highways. With major interchanges like I-485 connecting thousands of vehicles daily, Mecklenburg County sees a steady stream of high-speed traffic, often increasing the chances of a devastating wreck.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Mecklenburg County consistently ranks among the top counties in the state for car accidents. Charlotte accounts for a significant portion of traffic-related injuries and fatalities, particularly along major routes like I-85, I-77, and I-485. Speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving continue to be leading causes of serious crashes on these roadways.

This is where a personal injury attorney can help. An experienced car accident lawyer in Charlotte can guide victims through the legal process, help gather evidence, and negotiate with insurance companies to pursue fair compensation. In fatal cases, a wrongful death claim may allow families to seek damages for funeral costs, loss of companionship, and more.

North Carolina’s laws regarding fault and compensation can be complex. The state follows a contributory negligence rule, meaning that if a victim is found even slightly at fault, they may be barred from recovering damages. Having legal representation can make all the difference in presenting a strong case.
