Charlotte, NC (September 25, 2025) – A high-speed crash in southwest Charlotte claimed the life of a 24-year-old man and left two others injured, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The accident happened Tuesday night in the 3500 block of Sam Wilson Road when a Hyundai Elantra driven by Jaquavias Deshawn Holley struck a Hyundai Tucson. Police say Holley lost control of the Elantra after the collision, causing it to roll over.

Responding officers found the Elantra heavily damaged on the shoulder with Holley and two passengers inside. The Tucson driver sustained only vehicle damage to the driver’s side and was not reported injured.

Medics transported Holley and his passengers to the hospital. Holley suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on Wednesday. The two passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Our deepest condolences go out to Holley’s family and friends during this tragic time. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, though police have confirmed no charges have been filed.

Car Accidents in Charlotte, NC

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities across North Carolina, and Charlotte is no exception. High-speed collisions, such as the recent tragic crash on Sam Wilson Road, highlight the dangers of reckless driving and the devastating outcomes that can follow. According to the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, thousands of traffic crashes occur annually in Mecklenburg County, with speeding and driver inattention ranking among the top contributing factors.

When collisions involve multiple vehicles or high speeds, the risk of severe injury or death increases significantly. Victims and their families are often left to face not only physical and emotional trauma but also financial hardship from medical expenses, lost wages, and long-term care needs. In cases involving wrongful death, families may also face funeral costs and the loss of financial and emotional support.

This is where legal support becomes essential. A personal injury attorney in Charlotte can help victims or their families navigate the often complex claims process. Attorneys investigate the circumstances of the crash, gather evidence, and negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of the injured. In cases of fatal accidents, they may also pursue wrongful death claims to help surviving relatives recover compensation.

Compensation in car accident cases can cover medical bills, rehabilitation, lost income, property damage, and, in some cases, pain and suffering. For families coping with the death of a loved one, financial recovery cannot replace their loss, but it can ease some of the burdens that follow.
