Hailing from North Carolina, he has deep roots in the state, having been born and raised there. Growing up in a family of educators, with both parents being teachers, Stephen imbibed the values of diligence, integrity, and service from an early age. His father’s illustrious career spanned 45 years in the school system, instilling in Stephen a profound respect for commitment and perseverance.

Throughout his extensive career, Stephen has amassed invaluable experience as a civil litigator, handling a diverse array of cases across various legal arenas. His practice has seen him litigate hundreds of cases in Superior Court, District Court, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of North Carolina, and the North Carolina Industrial Commission. His knowledge encompasses a wide spectrum of matters, ranging from personal injury and wrongful death to occupational illness, chemical exposure, insurance coverage disputes, construction defects, and breach of contract issues.

Stephen’s academic journey laid a solid foundation for his legal career. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Duke University in 1995, followed by a Juris Doctor from the esteemed University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998. Upon graduating, he was admitted to the North Carolina Bar and the Western District of North Carolina, marking the commencement of his illustrious legal practice.

Residing in Matthews, Stephen takes pride in his family life, with both of his daughters poised to graduate college, a testament to his dedication to education and nurturing the next generation.
